Shady Grove Pregnancy Center performs free, on-site, limited obstetrical ultrasounds for the purpose of confirming and verifying the viability of the pregnancy. Having an ultrasound can be an important step in evaluating your options to carry or have an abortion.
Why an ultrasound?
Some pregnancies naturally end in a miscarriage. Some are ectopic or tubal pregnancies which can be quite dangerous to your health. It is important to know all the facts about your pregnancy before making a decision about it.
What does an ultrasound do?
An ultrasound is a simple and painless medical procedure that allows the medical professional and you to see a picture of your pregnancy. Questions that will be answered are:
- Is the pregnancy in the uterus?
- Is the pregnancy viable, meaning is there a heartbeat?
- How many weeks am I pregnant?
You will want to know the answers to these questions so that you can make a good decision for yourself.
Who will perform the ultrasound?
Ultrasounds at Shady Grove Pregnancy Center are provided by our medical team of sonographers and nurses certified in sonography and are reviewed by our doctor (GYN).
Anything else I should know?
The ultrasound is not intended to diagnose potential abnormalities or determine the sex of your baby.
