Abortion FAQ

What is an abortion?

It is a medical procedure used to remove the developing life or fetus inside a person who is pregnant.

How is abortion performed?

There are different methods used in performing abortion, depending on how far along you are in the pregnancy. Some methods involve physically removing the developing life with instruments; while others involve the use of chemicals injected into the womb or taken orally by the pregnant woman.

Does an abortion have risks?

There is always the possibility of risks when a medical procedure or surgery is performed. Abortion can have both physical and emotional risks. See the Abortion Checklist and Post Abortion Stress.

How much does an abortion cost?

Abortion costs vary. The further along you are in the pregnancy, the more the abortion can cost.

Can anyone force me to have an abortion?

It is against the law for anyone to force you to have an abortion. Not even a husband or parent can require you to undergo an abortion against your will, even if you are a minor (under 18 years of age).
